Hurricane PowerPoint Project

Fifth grade students are taking the information they gained from researching hurricanes and creating a PowerPoint presentation! They worked in cooperative groups during yesterday's Late Start.  On Friday, each group will present their PowerPoint!  This is the culminating activity for the STEM project on Hurricanes.

Spelling List Tab

I have posted next week's spelling list on this blog.  Look at the tabs across the top, and you'll see it!  Hopefully, I'll remember to update it each week!  I've also updated the AR due dates.  Happy New Year!

New Year!

Well, it is just about the end of our Christmas break.  I am looking forward to getting back into the school routine and seeing students and coworkers again!  I hope everyone has enjoyed their time off.  If you are like me, you'll have to get back into the groove of going to bed earlier and getting up earlier! :)
5th grade has their annual Kansas Day Quiz Bowl coming up on Jan. 29th!  This is always a lot of fun! Would anyone be willing to donate a box of juice drinks for that day?

Christmas Break Countdown

We only have 8 more school days until break!  I don't know where the school year has gone!  With such a great group of students, the days go by quickly!  We will be busy the next two weeks!  The AR party will be Friday, Dec. 18th if a student has met his/her reading goal.  They may bring board games and a drink that day!  Progress reports were sent out on the 4th.  If you haven't seen it yet, ask your child for it.  Please sign and return it.  I know we are busy with basketball season now! Merry Christmas!

H.S. Environment Class Visits 5th Grade

Today we had the opportunity to visit and learn from the high school Environment class and their teacher Ms. Sielert.  Students learned about the monarch butterfly way station they will be growing.  They also learned about vermicomposting.
