To get
excited about the Kansas Reading Assessment, students were able to have a
Spirit Week in 5th grade.
Monday was a testing kick-off party.
Tuesday was Twin Day. Wacky
Wednesday had students dressed with their clothes on backward. Thursday was Favorite Team Day for the
students.
Students in Mrs. Hoover’s room have been busy! In Science, they have experimented with light
and color. They used a flashlight and a
glass of water to make a rainbow! They
also used other materials to investigate what happened when light hit
them.
Mrs. Hoover’s
reading class recently read “The Memory Box”. Each student then made and
decorated his/her own memory box. Students enjoyed sharing them with the
class. Soon students will begin reading
the novel The Whipping Boy.
Math class
has been very busy trying to prepare for the Kansas State Assessment. Students have been learning about two and
three dimensional shapes. They have looked at the shapes from different
views. Students have also looked at the
nets they make. Measurement and
converting measurements will be covered soon.
Students can work on Study Island and IXL at home for extra math
practice.
Mrs.
Richardson visited our classroom recently to present an Ag in the Classroom
activity. Students discussed soybeans
and learned how often they are found in the foods we buy and eat. Each was able to make a “living necklace”
that used soybeans, polymers, and water.
It was exciting to wear the necklace and watch the beans sprout!
